Video Codecs

For best recording performance, we recommend that you install the latest version of Windows Media Player from Microsoft (currently version 11 for Windows XP). It's free and it ensures that you are using the same software that we test against.

Although Windows Media Player 11 is primarily used to play video and audio it also installs the latest video codec which is used by the recorder to compress the recorded video before uploading it. There will be no effect on video playback (apart from that due to the enhanced recording) since Adobe Flash is used in the Our video player.
